Solar Brass Medallion has design element inspired by Ancient Egyptian and Nubian
cosmology. On one side is a gateway or portal with Sun disk used at entrances to temples and shrines. It is a contemporary design based on architecture from these two cultures. On the opposite side is an image of a solar barque. In Ancient Egypt and Nubia, solar barques were sacred boats that would carry the deity Ra across the sky during the day and into the underworld at night. They were also connected with the death and rebirth of ancestors.
